So why exactly are there two Marky Mark’s running for King of Fantasy Fest 2009? We decided to run together for King of Fantasy Fest as a team of Marky Mark’s because we’ve both been known as Mark Mark for so long that to run as just one Marky Mark for King just didn’t seem right.
Both Mark’s have been affectionately known as Marky Mark by their friends for years now. When they both ended up in Key West, there was often much confusion as to which Marky Mark was which and does the original Marky Mark Wahlberg face our same dilemma or even care?
Probably not, but after years of friendly banter and debates some confusion was eliminated recently as Marky Mark 1 and Marky Mark 2 have come to a fantastic conclusion: Two heads are better than one! We’re combining forces! We’re doubling our efforts!
We’re working together to raise as much money for AIDS Help as we can! We are the Marky Mark team running together for Key West’s King of Fantasy Fest 2009! We are the Mar”keys” for King of 2009.
Mark Patterson: I’ve worked for the MARC House, drove the trolley and managed a guesthouse. I temporarily left Key West, then came back where I belong. I am now back behind the wheel of a trolley and vow to never leave Key West again. I was Mr. Pridefest 2006, which along with work and volunteering for different AIDS Help events, are the most exciting, rewarding and humbling experiences of my life. I’ve volunteered for AIDS Community Services in Buffalo, NY, where I am from originally. I love to help people in any way that I can.
My goals for the campaign are to draw attention to AIDS Help and its cause, raise a ton of money…WIN, and have lots of fun along the way!! Mark Blackburn: Both Mark and I have been nicknamed “Marky Mark” along the way and we thought it would be fun to team the two Marky Marks together and run as a Marky Mark pair for King of Fantasy Fest 2009! You can catch me bartending at Bourbon Street Pub, where I have worked for over six years, or now recently performing upstairs at 801 Bourbon every Wednesday night.
I love getting involved in the community and Key West leads the way in helping those in need. My favorite charities include AIDS Help, The Sister Season Fund, MCC Church and numerous others. My participation with these charities has involved me with numerous entertainment opportunities. I have won Aqua Idol twice benefiting the MCC Church and won a couple of Queen titles such as Queen of Bourbon and Miss Firecracker, but now it is time to be a King!
My goals for the campaign are quite simple. I want to raise as much money as possible for AIDS Help, educate people about AIDS Help and what they can do to help and have fun along the way! I’m running because I always feel like there is so much more that we can all be doing to help those in need in our community. This is just one small way that I am trying to unite us all for BIG results! I am also looking forward to a fun and productive Fantasy Fest 2009!

Contestants are those you would “never” expect to participate or possibly have always wanted to but “never” had the courage to get in Drag.
